Residents of the Katy area place great emphasis on outdoor recreation. City and neighborhood parks provide many recreational opportunities as do networks of hike and bike trails that link neighborhoods to the massive grouping of parks along our eastern edge. Bear Creek Park, Cullen Park and George Bush Park provide a 20,000 plus acre green buffer between the Katy area and the rest of the metro region.

Katy area parks include baseball fields, equestrian trails, fishing, golf courses, jogging trails, picnic grounds, playgrounds, ponds, shooting ranges, soccer fields, tennis courts and other goodies right within our community.
Also, many residential developments in the Katy area offer homeowners parks, complete with pools and playground areas.

And, the famous
Katy Prairie provides hunting, bird watching and nature studies.

Central Green Park

Central Green is a multipurpose public park and events venue owned and operated by the Willow Fork Drainage District. The community space is located on the south end of LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch in Katy. The half-acre community park is funded by a voter-approved parks bond package for the Willow Fork Drainage District. Central Green was created to fulfill a public need where Katy residents could gather for local community events. It features outdoor seating areas, a central mall ringed by stone benches and trees as well as a performance stage and restroom facility. Designed by landscape architecture firm TBG, construction of Central Green was completed in May 2013 and officially opened to the public on June 1, 2013. Central Green is part of a master plan of interconnecting parks, trails and outdoor recreational spaces designed to create a sense of unity between existing neighborhoods and local schools to regional destinations such as George Bush Park and Terry Hershey Park.
