Katy is strategically located to offer the best of all possible worlds in transportation. Located just off 1-10, Katy is a prime beneficiary of the constantly improving highway network in and around metropolitan Houston. Mobility is one of Houston's top priorities, and all of the improvements offer Katy congestion-free access to all areas.

I-10 bisects Houston from east to west, while Highway 6, the Grand Parkway, and the Sam Houston Toll Road provide excellent north-south access. 1-10 puts virtually every city within easy reach of Katy. San Antonio (180 mi.), Austin (150 mi.), and Dallas (275 mi.) are all within an easy driving distance.

Grand Parkway
The Grand Parkway (SH99) is a proposed 170-mile circumferential scenic highway traversing seven counties and encircling the Greater Houston region. Currently 20 miles of the highway, from US 59 near Sugar Land to IH 10 near Katy have been constructed and provide a toll free road open to the traveling public. Other segments are under various stages of development.

The Westpark Tollway is a 20-mile Tollway that extends from SH 99 (Grand Parkway) on the west to IH 610 on the east.
The project has drastically improved mobility for Katy area residents by creating a new east-west corridor with access to SH 6, Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8), US 59 and the Galleria Area.

Metro “Park and Ride” lots
The Metropolitan Transit Authority serving the Houston area provides “Park and Ride” service in West Harris County.
  • Kingsland Boulevard  between Mason Road and South Fry Road
  • I-10 and the Grand Parkway
  • I-10 immediately east of State Highway 6

In addition to these facilities, METRO, in partnership with the State of Texas Department of Transportation, has developed a high occupancy vehicle lane (HOV) within the median of I-10 that extends from west of State Highway 6 to east of the 610 West Loop.

Commercial airline service is as close as Houston's two major airports. Bush Intercontinental Airport is located to the north of Houston, and Hobby Airport is located in southeast Houston. Twenty-three airlines serve Bush while twelve airlines fly in and out of Hobby. These airlines can provide extensive, cost effective air transportation to 95 U.S. cities and 27 cities worldwide.
