Mobility

Houston Real-Time Traffic Map (TranStar)

Mobility is a key issue, and several major transportation projects are underway that will link Katy to other centers within the Houston region and beyond. Voters recently approved major state and county bond issues that will expedite these projects.

Interstate 10/Katy Freeway: a major project to turn I-10 into a state-of-the-art transitway is in design. Construction of this integrated system of frontage roads, freeway lanes, high-occupancy-vehicle lanes, and toll-road facilities will commence in 2004. The Katy Area will be first to see these improvements completed and realize the benefits.

Grand Parkway, a major limited access freeway, links I-10 to the Westpark Toll Road and to U.S. 59 (future I-69). Future segments, in the planning stage, will provide an expedited link to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The Westpark Toll Road will connect the southern edge of the Katy Area to business centers to the east, such as Houston's uptown "Galleria" area. This major thoughfare, now under construction, is expected to be completed in 2004.

In addition, major arterial roadway projects are in various stages of development.
Keep Texas Moving

Public transit systems provide easy access to the east and west. Houston's Metro operates Park & Ride facilities throughout Katy, and Colorado Valley Transit also serves the area.
