What is the Chamber of Commerce

The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit corporation founded locally in 1962. Today the organization works to strengthen the local economy, advocate for its members and community, advance community excellence, and deliver value to its members.

We are located at 814 East Avenue, Ste. G, Katy, TX 77493

 

What Geographic Area does the Chamber represent?

The Katy Area Chamber has a very large geographic footprint. We are uniquely situated where Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller Counties intersect. This allows us to serve our members within all three communities.

 

What is the relationship of the Chamber to City/County Government?

The Chamber is an independent 501(c)(6) not for profit organization and is not a department of the city or state government.

 

How is the Chamber funded?

The Chamber funds their operations via membership dues, non-dues revenues (events and fundraisers) and sponsorships.

 

What is the Chamber's role in Economic Development?

The Katy Area Economic Development Council and Waller County Economic Development Partnership are organizations that the Katy Area Chamber supports in efforts to attract new businesses to the area.

 

Will the Chamber be involved in Advocacy efforts?

One of the major goals of the Chamber of Commerce is to be the voice of business. Advocating for our members is critical to not only our members, but to the overall health of the community over the years.

Who can be a member of the Chamber?

Anyone can be a member of the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce. There are multiple categories of membership including those in business, education, government or retired. The mission of the Chamber of Commerce is to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community. Those citizens believing in that mission are welcome to join us.

Are membership dues and other investments tax deductible?

Contributions to the Katy Area Chamber are NOT tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Dues may be deducted as a business expense.

 

How can I file a complaint about a business or company?

The Katy Area Chamber is not a government agency, and therefore has no authority to investigate how companies conduct business nor are we able to accept complaints. You can file a complaint against a business with the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection and the Better Business Bureau.
