What is the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce?
The Katy Area Chamber is a business membership organization dedicated to promoting economic growth, community development, and business advocacy in Katy, Texas. We’ve been serving the community since 1962, and our mission is to advance your business LEGACY — through Leadership, Education, Growth, Advocacy, Community, and You.

What does LEGACY stand for?

  • Leadership – We cultivate leaders through our Leadership Katy program and community initiatives.
  • Educate – We offer business education seminars through our program of work.

What Geographic Area does the Chamber represent?
The Katy Area Chamber serves a large and diverse geographic footprint where Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller Counties intersect. This unique location allows us to support members across all three communities.

What is the relationship of the Chamber to City/County Government?
The Chamber is an independent 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization. It is not affiliated with city, county, or state government, though we work collaboratively on business-related initiatives.

How is the Chamber funded?
Our operations are funded through a combination of:  Membership dues, Non-dues revenue (from events, programs, and fundraisers), and Sponsorships

What is the Chamber’s role in economic development?
We support regional economic development by working closely with partners like the Katy Area Economic Development Council and the Waller County Economic Development Partnership to help attract and retain businesses in the area.

Will the Chamber be involved in advocacy efforts?
Yes — advocacy is a core part of our mission. We serve as the voice of business on key local, regional, and state issues that impact our members and the broader community.

How many members does the Chamber have?
We proudly represent a diverse membership base of over 600+ businesses and organizations.

What kinds of organizations join the Chamber?
All types — from large corporations to small family businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and government partners.

How do I become a member of the Chamber?

How much does membership cost?

Are membership dues tax deductible?
Chamber dues are not tax-deductible as a charitable donation, but they may be deductible as a business expense. Please consult your accountant or tax advisor.

Can I file a complaint about a business through the Chamber?
The Chamber is not a regulatory agency, and we do not investigate business practices or accept complaints. We recommend contacting:

  • The Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection
  • The Better Business Bureau

Can I schedule a ribbon cutting?
Absolutely! Ribbon cuttings are a welcome celebration for new members and are included with select membership tiers. We help coordinate the event and promote it to our community.
